  • Birthplace

    For the delivery in a birthplace that does not feature on any cantonal hospital list KLuG covers costs for delivery nurse and the doctor, included consumables together with indispensable medicaments, from BASIS. In addition, from semi-private and private hospital insurances, KLuG adjusts a compensation (birth lump sum) for further costs which are not covered (like, for example, use of a birth-room, overnight stay and catering).

    To make sure which additional services are provided by KLuG in the birthplace it is highly recommended to clarify it in advance.

  • Bonus insurances

    A person, who within a certain period of time will not make use of any services, benefits from a discount of up to 20%. Hospital insurances HOSPITAL PLUS and HOSPITAL COMFORT will be offered as bonus insurances starting from the age of 50.

  • Cantonal vaccination program

    Vaccination programs will be implemented on behalf of conventional medicine service and/or by private practice doctors affiliated with the cantonal vaccination program.

    The vaccination programs against cervical cancer are organized differently depending on a specific canton.

  • Cervical cancer vaccination

    Vaccination against human papillomaviruses (HPV) provides protection against specific HP-viruses responsible for cervical cancer. Only under certain conditions will this vaccination be compensated from the basic insurance:
    The vaccination will be carried out on girls and young women of the age range 11 to 19.


    The doctor will execute the vaccination as part of the cantonal vaccination program. Therefore, purchase of the vaccines occurs to be centralized, and so the vaccination costs are set to be significantly lower.

    Should the above conditions be fulfilled, the billing and remuneration between doctors, cantons and health insurers stay in the background. Neither the excess nor the deductible share will be charged.

    Should the vaccination be executed outside the vaccination program the costs will not be assumed by the basic insurance.

     

  • Chinese medicine

    The traditional Chinese medicine is not only accepted but also widely popular among Swiss population.

    The traditional Chinese medicine treats through acupuncture, herbal therapy, Anmo / Tuina massage and many other therapy forms for all possible functional ailments, like joint- and backaches, chronic pains, respiratory tract’s disorders, stress-induced diseases and many others. The medications will be prepared individually for each patient at an off-site pharmacy according to the physician’s guidelines.

    For Chinese medicine expenses the costs will be partially undertaken from supplementary insurances SANA or COMPLETA.

  • Cost sharing

    The Federal Act on Health insurance (KVG) foresees that the insured participates in the treatment costs caused. This cost sharing consists of three elements:

    • the deductible (fixed amount)
    • the excess (percentage calculation)
    • amount for the hospital stay (fixed amount per day of hospitalization)  

    There is a differentiation between adults (over 18) and children on how the above is applied. Additionally, the insured has a possibility to raise their regular deductible by CHF 300.– per calendar year according to one’s needs, i.e. to play a greater role in the costs. Conversely, depending on the amount of the chosen deductible, the insurer grants the insured a respective premium discount.

  • Dental hygiene

    Professional dental cleaning aims at healthy teeth. It comprises removal of all bacterial plaque, as well as a thorough teeth polish, so that you can grin again.
    The dental insurance DENTAplus grants services of dental Hygiene.

  • Dental malocclusion correction

    From supplementary insurances TOP and COMPLETA until the age of 20, KLuG compensates 75 % of the costs, max. CHF 10 000.– per calendar year for dental- and jaw malocclusion corrections.

  • Dental treatment / Dentist

    Only exceptional cases of dental treatment are covered by BASIS.

    The expenses with respect to insurance conditions as to a maximum insured amount will be undertaken from the supplementary insurance DENTAplus.

    Compensations of dental- and jaw malocclusion corrections will be made from supplementary insurances TOP and COMPLETA.

  • Double room

    With the hospital insurances HOSPITAL Semi-Private and HOSPITAL PLUS KLuG facilitates high-class double-room comfort.

    With the hospital insurance HOSPITAL FLEX upon an excess you can also enjoy the comfort of a double-room.

  • Generika (Generic drugs)

    Generika constitutes generic drugs which can be produced when a patent protection of a particular medicament has expired. These follow-up drugs contain the same active agents as original products known for years. With regard to its efficacy they are identical to the original product.

    Hence, with Generika you benefit from little cost sharing (the excess and annual deductible), and thereby save money. Whoever favors expensive original products over more convenient generic drugs, pays 20 % instead of 10 % of the excess.

  • Health insurance for foreign nationals

    This is an insurance coverage for relatives and friends from foreign countries  who come with visit for a longer period of time. This insurance can be arranged without medical examination.

    Treatment costs upon accident and illness

    The following treatment costs will be insured up to an amount of an insurance sum agreed (excluded the excess) for accident and illness:

    • medically indispensable expenses  for physicians and medicaments
    • hospital stay (included catering)
    • rescue- and transportation costs up to 10 % of the insured amount

    • additional costs for an indispensable direct return trip
    • emergency transport by land- or air ambulance
    • search- and rescue operations
    • expenses for repatriation of the deceased

    Health legal protection and legal protection abroad are covered by supplementary insurances TOP and COMPLETA. Each case will be compensated up to CHF 250'000.– in Europe and max. CHF 50'000.– outside Europe respectively.
    In conjunction with TOP or COMPLETA, motor- and personal legal protection KLuG Advocare PLUS  can be arranged.

  • Health promotion

    KLuG supports your efforts to preserve and promote your health.

    For health promoting measures in areas of back training, fitness, courses on nutrition, relaxation and physical activity, as well as for other health-related topics KLuG makes a contribution from supplementary insurances SANA and COMPLETA.

    In the pregnancy-related area (prenatal classes, pregnancy exercises, postnatal recovery gymnastics) 75 %, max. CHF 500.– per calendar year will be paid.

    Should there be more health promoting measures from different areas applied in the same year, KLuG will assume max. CHF 500.– of costs per calendar year.

    KidsCare is a unique service for kids up to the age of 15 whose parents are single and employed.  Upon the child’s severe illness or accident there will be a specially trained and experienced person on the spot within 3 hours. The person will take care after the child, will play and feed him/her.

    With the appeal of the Federal Act on Health insurance from 1996 the payment of lactation allowance has been suspended in favor of lactation counseling.
    From BASIS KLuG compensates three sessions of lactation counseling by recognized delivery nurses and nursing professionals with a special qualification.

    From BASIS KLuG compensates three sessions of lactation counseling provided they are executed by a delivery nurse or a specially trained nursing professional.

  • List of pharmaceutical products for special application (LPPA)

    For medicaments, that feature on the list of pharmaceutical products for special application (LPPA) there is no entitlement to compensation, neither from the basic- nor from supplementary insurances. LPPA will be regularly updated and can be sent in extracts on request.

    As out-patient treatment we consider a treatment by registered doctors and dentists of the hospital’s out-patient ward.

    The out-patient treatment will be executed by:

    • speech-, occupational-, physiotherapists
    • nursing professionals (independent or employed by Spitex – a home care organization)
    • nutritionists and diabetes advisors
    • laboratories (lab analyses) and radiology institutes

    If the out-patient treatment is administered medically and it concerns a mandatory benefit, the costs will be compensated from BASIS as per collective agreements for residence or job location.

    Krankenpflege in anerkannten Pflegeheimen wird gemäss Tarifverträgen aus der Grundversicherung (BASIS) übernommen.

    Die Pflegeversicherung VIVANTE deckt zusätzlich die Folgen der Langzeitpflegebedürftigkeit bei Unfall und Krankheit. Sie offeriert freie Wahl ambulanter Pflege zu Hause, stationärer Pflege in Heimen, Pflege durch Angehörige oder Fachpersonen sowie individuelle Versicherungssummen.

    Die Pflegeversicherung CURA bietet bei chronischen Krankheiten oder chronischen Unfallfolgen Versicherungsschutz bis zur Höhe der versicherten Tagespauschale für die ungedeckten Aufenthalts- und Verpflegungskosten bei stationärer Pflege sowie für die ungedeckten Betreuungs- und Haushalthilfekosten bei ambulanter Pflege zu Hause.     The costs for physiotherapy will be assumed from BASIS on condition such physiotherapy is prescribed medically and executed by a recognized physiotherapist. Physiotherapy comprises rehabilitation and out-patient treatment.

    To make sure that KLuG assumes costs of your physiotherapy, we suggest you to verify it with our client service before starting the Treatment.

  • Postnatal recovery gymnastics

    Postnatal recovery gymnastics should facilitate the involution of pregnancy-related alterations to the woman’s body  after the delivery.

    KLuG compensates 75 %, max. CHF 200.- per calendar year of courses recognized by KLuG from supplementary insurances SANA and COMPLETA.

    For the pregnancy-related  area (prenatal classes, pregnancy exercises,  postnatal recovery gymnastics) there will be 75 % of costs paid, max. CHF 500.- per calendar year.
    Should there be more health promoting measures from different areas applied in the same year, KLuG will assume max. CHF 500.- of costs per calendar year.

    Gymnastics as a preparation for the delivery and as support and relief during pregnancy.

  • Psychotherapy

    Psychotherapy Services

    Only when the psychotherapy treatment is executed by a doctor or a non-medical therapist practicing as a doctor and under their supervision, will services be granted from the mandatory healthcare insurance.
    Service provided by an independent non-medical psychotherapist does not constitute a mandatory benefit. Such treatments can be compensated from supplementary insurances TOP or COMPLETA under certain conditions:

    • The therapy has to be prescribed medically.
    • The treatment has to be executed by a self-employed, recognized professionally qualified psychotherapist.

    Important: Before the treatment get informed at KLuG’s client service whether the requested therapist fulfills the requirements for cost coverage.

  • Qualifying period

    A qualifying period is a period counted from the commencement of the insurance coverage during which certain services are not yielded. Qualifying periods matter, for instance, in connection with insurance services for maternity or dental care insurances. 

    Qualifying period for maternity

    By supplementary hospital insurances HOSPITAL Semi-Private (semi-private ward) and HOSPITAL Private (private ward) for maternity services, a qualifying period of 365 days from the date of signing the insurance contract is applicable. During this period maternity in-patient stays are covered only on general wards in the canton of residence.  At the end of the qualifying period, also for maternity, full coverage on semi-private- or private ward will apply.

    Qualifying period for dental care insurance DENTAplus

    The entitlement to service by DENTAplus begins after a qualifying period of 6 months from the beginning of insurance.  The treatment’s date is crucial for obtaining the above mentioned

  • Relocation

    KLuG grants services for transport, rescue and relocation from BASIS:

    Transport

    If you are unable to go to the doctor, hospital or your therapist independently on foot, or by private or public means of transport due to your health condition, then 50 % of medically indexed transportation costs, max. CHF 500.- per calendar year will be compensated from BASIS.

    Rescue

    If it is necessary to save your life or prevent your condition from rapid deterioration or from putting your life in danger in a short time it is considered an emergency situation. According to Federal Act on Health insurance, there will be 50 % of costs for the rescue from an emergency situation in Switzerland, max. CHF 5'000.- per calendar year, compensated from BASIS.

    Additional insurance protection for uncovered costs for transport and rescue is granted by supplementary insurances TOP or COMPLETA.
    Transport costs abroad and upon repatriation are also compensated from supplementary insurances TOP and COMPLETA.

    Relocation

    The costs for relocation from one hospital to another are to be assumed by the hospital that has induced the relocation. It also applies to people with semi-private- or private supplementary hospital insurance.

  • Repatriation

    The supplementary insurances TOP and COMPLETA cover costs resulting from repatriation. The costs will however be assumed only through AGA transaction.

  • Rescue

    KLuG grants services for transport, rescue and relocation from BASIS:

    Transport

    If you are unable to go to the doctor, hospital or your therapist independently on foot, or by private or public means of transport due to your health condition, then 50 % of medically indexed transportation costs, max. CHF 500.- per calendar year will be compensated from BASIS.

  • Shared room

    With BASIS, your services in a hospital on general ward within a residential canton are covered.
    Once you decide on arranging hospital insurance with KLuG you will be granted a higher room- and care comfort.

  • Single room

    Within the hospital insurance HOSPITAL Private KLuG grants its customers high-class single-room comfort.
    With the hospital insurance HOSPITAL FLEX upon an excess you can enjoy the comfort of a single-room.

  • Spa therapy

    As per the Federal Act on Health insurance (KVG) or the Benefits ordinance a daily subscription of CHF 10.- over maximum 21 days per calendar year is scheduled. With this subscription the costs of hotels and spa admission fees are compensated. There will be additional costs of initial- and concluding medical examinations, and medical practices  prescribed by a doctor (physiotherapy) to assume as per common rates of a given location.

    KLuG adjusts the hotel expenses in recognized national spas with a daily flat rate from the HOSPITAL – supplementary hospital insurance. The amount of the daily spa therapy contribution is arranged according to the finalized HOSPITAL – supplementary hospital insurance and as per justified costs. (There will be maximum 30 days per calendar year covered for services of spa- and recreation cures altogether.)
    Important: In order to have the right to services, spa treatment needs to meet the following requirements:

    • spa treatment needs to be prescribed medically,
    • respective medical treatment for the ailment at issue is not possible at the place of residence,
    • the spa features on the list of The Federal Department of Home Affairs,
    • the medical prescription for spa treatment with diagnosis, names and place of the spa, together with the treatment’s duration are to be submitted before the start of the treatment, whereas an intensive and active balneological therapy is to be executed for the spa therapy of a minimum duration of 14 days.

    You will easily and quickly find all supplementary therapists recognized by KLuG by means of an interactive search. In case you have finalized a supplementary insurance SANA or COMPLETA, KLuG assumes the treatment by recognized therapists at 75%.

    Additional insurance protection for uncovered costs for transport and rescue is granted by supplementary insurances TOP or COMPLETA.
    Transport costs abroad and upon repatriation are also compensated from supplementary insurances TOP and COMPLETA.

    Relocation

    The costs for relocation from one hospital to another are to be assumed by the hospital that has induced the relocation. It also applies to people with semi-private- or private supplementary hospital insurance.

  • Ultrasonic testing

    As per the Federal Act on Health insurance there are two ultrasonic testings compensated from BASIS. Supplementary insurances SANA and COMPLETA compensate additional ultrasonic testings.

    From supplementary insurances SANA and COMPLETA, an ultrasonic testing executed or prescribed by a doctor as part of prevention for an early recognition of diseases will be compensated at 90 %, max. CHF 500.- (SANA) and max. CHF 750.- (COMPLETA) per year.

  • Vaccination against cervical cancer

    Vaccination against human papillomaviruses (HPV) provides protection against specific HP-viruses responsible for cervical cancer. Only under certain conditions will this vaccination be compensated from the basic insurance:

    • The vaccination will be carried out on girls and young women of the age range 11 to 19.
    • The doctor will execute the vaccination as part of the cantonal vaccination program. Therefore, purchase of the vaccines occurs to be centralized, and so the vaccination costs are set to be significantly lower.
    • Should the above conditions be fulfilled, the billing and remuneration between doctors, cantons and health insurers stay in the background. Neither the excess nor the deductible share will be charged.
    • Should the vaccination be executed outside the vaccination program the costs will not be assumed by the basic insurance.
  • Vaccinations

    KLuG shares expenses for vaccinations as part of medical prevention.
    Depending on the type of vaccine it can concern either a mandatory benefit from BASIS or a service from supplementary insurances.
    The services from the basic insurance will be compensated excluded the cost sharing. The compensation for vaccines will be also made from supplementary insurances SANA and COMPLETA.
