Are you about to go into hospital?
Basic insurance / supplementary insurance
You may choose your hospital from the hospital list kept by the canton in which you live or by the canton where the hospital is located (listed hospital). If you choose to receive treatment in a listed hospital that is not on the list of your canton of residence, the costs for stay and treatment in the general ward will be covered only up to the amount that would be reimbursed for the same treatment in a hospitalon the list of your canton of residence.
If the treatment in a hospital that is not on the list of your canton of residence is medically necessary (emergency, specialtreatment), the costs for stay and treatment in the general ward of that hospital are covered in their entirety by compulsory health insurance. Additional costs for treatment or stays in a private or semi-private ward will be at your own expense or covered by a possible supplementary insurance
Well before you're admitted to hospital, check out exactly what insurance cover you have taken out. You can find this information in your policy.
